Barbara Haydell Broussard

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2014 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Barbara Ann Haydell Broussard, 86, who died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Pelican Pointe Healthcare & Rehabilitation.

She will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Reverend William C. Blanda officiating the services.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Broussard, Brett Gaspard, Jerrod Broussard, Benjamin Hornsby, Keith Corson and Thomas Haysley. Honorary pallbearers will be Irving and Ada Broussard.

Mrs. Broussard was an accountant with the Vermilion Parish School Board for 30 years. Barbara will be remembered most as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew and loved her.

The Broussard family would like to thank the dedicated, compassionate and loving caregivers who loyally took care of their mother. We will forever be grateful to Cheryl Trahan and associates with Community Care Hospice, Dr. Lu and Dr. Gupta.

She is survived by her husband, Preston "P.J." Broussard, son, Kim D. Broussard and his wife Angela of Lafayette; daughter, Patricia Gaspard and her husband James living in Hernando, MS; eight grandchildren, Brooke Hornsby, Jamie Corson, Michelle Haysley, Karen Broussard, Matthew Broussard, Brett Gaspard, Jerrod Broussard and Kirsten Broussard; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews .

She was preceded in death by her parents, Achille Haydell and the former Angele Ledet; son, Daniel J. Broussard; brothers, Mayo, Celie and Freddie; and sisters, Lena, Amy, Annie, Noelie and Stella.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, March 14, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. by her block rosary group.
