Leatrice Lormand Vincent

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Leatrice Lormand Vincent, 83, who died Sunday, March 23, 2014 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Cedric Sonnier officiating the services, along with Concelebrant Reverend David Broussard. Lectors will be Kelli Simon Davis and Hillary Vincent. Gift bearers will be Nicholas, Jackson and Benjamin Simon. The vocalist will be Wayne Hebert and the organist will be Hannah Mayo. Serving as pallbearers will be Boyd and Kerry Simon, Matthew Vincent, John Hines, Kirk Romero and Aaron Guidry.

Leatrice was a loving, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She always put others above herself and strived for a better life for those in need. She was active in her community, participating in the Catholic Daughters, Come Lord Jesus, American Legion Auxiliary, an avid supporter and volunteer for Maltrait Memorial Catholic School, an Eucharistic Minister, and a Catechism teacher for Holy Rosary Catholic Church and St. Francis Cabrini.

She is survived by her children, Gwen V. Simon, Jessica Vincent, Todd Vincent and his wife, Katie, Joel Vincent, and Michele Vincent, all of Lafayette; five grandchildren, Boyd Simon and his wife, Dana, Kerry Simon and his wife, Christi, all of Lafayette, Kelli Simon and her husband, Marcelo Davis of Dallas, Texas, and Matthew and Hillary Vincent of Lafayette; six great grandchildren, Nicholas, Jackson, Benjamin, and Mary Kate Simon and Michael and Maria Simon; special friends of the family, Linda Hebert and John Hines; her brother, J.D. Lormand and his wife, Gay Nell; one sister, Sybil Romero; and her sister-in-law, Jane and her husband, John Husak.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, J. Royby Vincent; her parents, Emar Lormand and the former Emelie Richard; a brother, John Farrel Lormand; and a sister, Delora Hanks.

The family would like to give special thanks to her extremely devoted caregivers, Eula Washington, Michelle Lewis, Rita, Carmen and the LHC team for their kindness and gentle care provided to her during the last two years of her life.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Monday, March 24, 2014 from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, March 25, from 8 a.m. until services.
