Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2014 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Adles Perry, 104, who died Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Abbeville General Hospital.
He will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery with Reverend John Vining officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Ray Barras, Curtis Broussard, Roland Duplantis, Anthony Fitch, Colby Fitch and Chris Perales.
A native and life long resident of Abbeville, Adles was a retired body shop foreman who worked at Wood Motors and Bay City Motors for over 40 years.
He was a proud Veteran having served his country in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
Adles was a friend to all and always greeted everyone he met with a handshake and a smile. He lived life full of love and touched so many lives with his acts of kindness, his generosity, his patience, and his easy going personality. He charmed everyone he met with his quick wit and incredible sense of humor. He was a hardworking man, dedicated and devoted to his family. He taught others by his actions how to be strong and how to live everyday to its fullest. He showed us what patience, unselfishness, and unconditional love is all about. He excelled in caring and exhibited compassion to all. He would never procrastinate, if there was something to do, he was there to do it and complete it.
Adles was an avid lover of nature and the outdoors. He loved gardening and always shared the fruits of his labor with family and friends. His yard was his sanctuary. He enjoyed and appreciated the sounds and sights of nature. He enjoyed woodworking and was very gifted and knowledgeable in this area. He was always known as “Mr. Fix It” and a “Jack of all Trades”.
Adles lived a long, wonderful, happy and beautiful life, a life that brought happiness and joy to all who knew him.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Ronald LaHasky and his staff, the third floor nurses at Abbeville General Hospital, Acadian Home Care of Abbeville, his very special nurse Timori, and his special caregivers Sam and Rose for their special care and compassion.
A very special word of thanks to the Rev. John Vining and the very special and wonderful church family at the Abbeville United Methodist Church for their prayers, support, concern and compassion, all of which have been blessings beyond measure.
Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Adles Perry to the Abbeville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Perry; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, great great nieces and nephews and many, many friends, especially his friend and caregiver, Sam.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Thelma H. Perry, parents, Rudolph Perry and the former Amanda Theall; two brothers, Joseph Lovelace Perry and Whitney Perry; and two sisters, Beulah P. Hebert and Agnes P. Roy.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Monday, April 14, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
