Willis Paul Meaux

November 15, 1929 — April 15, 2014

Abbeville— Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather Willis P Meaux, gained his angel wings Tuesday 15 April 2014 at 5:21 pm in his home surrounded by family members. He was born on 15 November 1929 in Abbeville, Louisiana to Rene and Melina D Meaux.

Willis was a friend to all and greeted everyone with a handshake and a smile.

Upon graduating from Abbeville High School, he proudly joined the United States Army serving in the Korean War. Until recently, he was a member of the Tuesday morning coffee club at CC’s Restaurant. He retired from Riviana Foods in Abbeville holding many positions along his 46 year career there, his last position being Maintenance Supervisor.

Willis is survived by his wife of 60 years Lucy Mae Gaspard Meaux and their 6 children. Rebecca M Broussard and her husband Thomas of Abbeville, Willis P Meaux, Jr of Broussard, Allen J Meaux and his wife Allison of Erath, Rachael M Boudreaux and her husband Jessy of Eunice, H Rene Meaux of Madisonville and Ricky L Meaux of Abbeville. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his 12 grandchildren Christine Fields, Bridget Lapointe, Derek Broussard, Amber Brousssad, Katherine Myers, Athena Larson, Louis Dryer, Jr, April Meaux, Heath Meaux, Gabriella Meaux, Jenna Meaux and Michael Meaux. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his 11 great grandchildren. Blackie his beloved dog, which was his walking partner and constant sidekick, will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death his parents and siblings Wiley J Meaux, Lena Mae Romero and Louis J Meaux (half brother).

Serving as pallbearers will be Jessy Boudreaux, Jr, Derek Broussard, Heath Meaux, Hunter Lapointe, Scott Lapointe and Carlton Landry.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of Heart of Hospice, for the wonderful care and compassion, especially Amy, Robin and Jakeda. Our journey to dad gaining his wings was definitely made easier with their help and guidance.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Friday April 18th; a rosary will be recited at 7:00pm, the funeral home will close at 9:00 pm and reopen Saturday morning at 8:00am until the time of the funeral services. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 am, burial will immediately follow at St Paul Cemetery in Abbeville.
