Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008, at St. James Catholic Church in Esther, for Maudry Pierce Appel, 83 of Abbeville, who died Thursday, July 24th at East Ridge Nursing Home. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery Mausoleum. Maudry was Co-Owner of Appels Grocery store in Intracoastal City for 37 years and was a loving mother, and grandmother. She is survived by two daughters, Jeannette Appel DeHart of Abbeville and Helen Appel of N. C.; one son, William Appel of Intracoastal City; one sister, Georgia P. Broussard of Abbeville; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilma John Appel; one brother, Maxie Pierce; one sister, Sadie Warszawski, and three half brothers, Weston Theall, Hollis Theall and Casey Pierce. Visitation will be held at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 South Saint Charles Street, Abbeville, Friday July 25th from 11:30 am until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday July 26th from 8:00 a.m. until time of services. The family would like to thank the staff at East Ridge Nursing Home and La. Hospice and Palliative Care of Jennings.
