Gloria Martin Hebert

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville honoring the life of Mrs. Gloria Martin Hebert, who died peacefully at her home on August 11, 2008. She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery, with Father Daniel Picard officiating.
Survivors include her loving husband, Patrick Hebert; two sons, Byron R. Hebert and his wife, Lolette T. of Abbeville and Wayne Hebert of Lafayette; six daughters, Patti Kempf of Lafayette, Jennie Gascon and her husband, George of Plaquemine, Leslie Malone of Lafayette, Alexis Guidry and her husband, Greg of Covington, Bonnie Brasseaux and her husband, Bob of Houston and Stella Hebert Allemond of Abbeville; nineteen grandchildren, Doty Kempf, Ariel Kempf and Marissa Kempf, Danielle Douglas, Erica Ellwood, Andrea Gascon, Patrick Malone, Kevin Malone, Sam Lopez, Rachael Hebert, Allison Hebert, Andrew Hebert, Matthew Guidry, Amy Guidry, Eric Guidry, Paige Brasseaux, Natalie Brasseaux, Madeline Allemond and Abbey Hebert; four great grandchildren, Bryce Ellewood, Benjamin Douglas, Alexander Douglas and Isabella Schaffer.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Leigh Pool; father, Alcee Joseph Martin; sister, Mildred Ruth Hall; and brother, Charles Berkley Martin.
Gloria was the beloved wife of Patrick Hebert for 59 years; a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was totally devoted to her faith, her family and her friends all of which meant the world to her.
Gloria was assistant Director of Nursing at Abbeville General with over 48 years of nursing experience. She was a graduate of Southern Baptist School of Nursing in New Orleans.
Visitation will be held at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 South Saint Charles Street, Abbeville, Tuesday, August 12, 2008 from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, August 13, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Gloria Hebert’s memory to Mount Carmel Elementary Development Fund, 405 Park Avenue, Abbeville, LA 70510 or Vermilion Catholic High School, 425 Park Avenue, Abbeville, LA 70510.
