Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Ruth Abshire Trahan, 86, who died Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Fr. Matthew Barzare officiating the services.

She is survived by her daughter, Patsy Gaspard of Kaplan; two sisters, Ruby A. Bertrand of Kaplan and Ellagene A. Adams of Kaplan; and one grandchild, Torrey Trahan of Kaplan.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Nole Boudreaux; her second husband, Wilbrey Trahan; her parents, Fernest Abshire and the former Azelia DeBlanc; two brothers, Willard and Alton Abshire; and four sisters, Willa Lege, Lula Abshire, Hilda Mouton, and Eva Beard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 8 a.m. until services.
