She is survived by her mother, Neola Romero Hargrave of Cow Island; sister, Deanna Rung and her husband Ellis Rung Jr. of Cow Island; one son, Crispin Broussard and his fiancée, Maria Girard of Kaplan; two daughters, April Broussard and her fiancé, Jason Bodin of Abbeville; and Nicole Abshire of Cow Island; sister-in-law, Kathryn O'quin of Breaux Bridge; and seven grandchildren, Aaron Broussard, Alenia Abshire, Kiersten Abshire, Sadie Abshire, Hana Abshire, Jason Bodin Jr., and Chloe Broussard.
She was preceded in death by her father, Oldy Hargrave; brother, Larry Dale Hargrave Sr.; godchild, Lynn Rung Duhon; and son-in-law, Kelly Abshire.
Winnie was a loving, caring, unselfish mother, daughter, sister, and a great friend. She was also a very dedicated employee of McDonald's in Kaplan. Winnie started as a crew person and worked her way up to shift manager. She always had a smile for everyone. We will miss that. Winnie also taught catechism for many years for St. Anne Church in Cow Island. She was a person of great faith which was a blessing for her at the end. She never complained during her suffering.
She will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege to know and love her. She's at peace now, but we are heartbroken at her passing. She will be our angel watching over us and will be there waiting for us when we leave this earth. We will celebrate our meeting.
We would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana. Their love, understanding, and kindness during our time of need will not be forgotten. They treated Winnie with love and respect.
We would like to also thank Father Moreau for his generosity and spiritual support. We cannot forget Father Boyer who has been a longtime friend.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Friday, August 29, 2008 from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.
