Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Monday, August 4, 2014 at a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Eldridge Vincent, 101, who died Friday, August 1, 2014 at Gueydan Memorial Guest Home. He will be laid to rest at St. Anthony Cemetery with Reverend Cedric Sonnier officiating the services.
Serving as pallbearers will be Sanford Herpin, Ryan Trahan, Wayne Guidry, Charles Suire, Dale Hebert, and Jean Hebert
He was a veteran of World War II, serving as an ambulance driver during and after the invasion of France. He retired after 35 years of service as a bus driver for the Vermilion Parish School Board in Gueydan, LA.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Core Vincent and the former Corlie Duhon; his wife, the former Russie Racca; and 19 brothers and sisters.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Chris Fontenot and his staff for the compassionate care they give to him during the past four years. Also, our gracious thanks to the wonderful staff at Gueydan Memorial Guest House.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Sunday, August 3, 2014 from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Monday August 4, 2014 from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for church.
