Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 11, 2014 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Vernon John Richard, 88, who died Friday, August 1, 2014 at Gueydan Memorial Guest Home. He will be laid to rest at Marceaux Cemetery with Reverend Cedric Sonnier officiating the services.

He is survived by his son, Tony M. Richard of Lafayette; one daughter, Susan D. Richard of Lafayette; one sister, Eurna LaPointe of Kaplan; one brother, Eddie Richard of Gueydan; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Duplisses Richard and the former Angel Schexnider; eight sisters, Aries Trahan, Azema Chauvin, Gladys Suire, Estelle Richard, Lorraine Clotiaux, and Una Simon; and one brother, Amos Richard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Monday, August 11, 2014 from 8 a.m. until services.
