Joseph Lawrence Richard
January 28, 1933 — August 20, 2014
He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Mayne officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Darell Richard, Gregory Richard, Brian Richard, Brian Landry, Jeremy Richard, and Christopher Trahan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Richard, Craig Richard, and Roy Richard.
Mr. Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Joseph served in the U. S. Army; he was awarded numerous medals as well as Soldier of the month.
He was also awarded many safety awards while working in the Pipeline Industry.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marjorie T. Richard; sons, Darell Richard and his wife Mona, Nathan Richard, Gregory Richard, and Brian Richard and his wife Tammy; daughters, Cynthia R. Dartez and Belinda Landry and her husband Brian; brother, Roy Paul Richard; fourteen grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adonise Richard and the former Rosita Frederick; brothers, L.J. Richard and Alton Richard; and a son-in-law Bradley Dartez.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Friday, August 22, 2014 from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for church.
