Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 13, 2014 at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Marie Linda Jane Broussard Bertrand, 82, who died Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Gueydan Memorial Guest Home. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Matthew Barzare officiating the services.

Mrs. Bertrand was a native of Kaplan and a graduate of Kaplan High School. She was a devoted mother who loved to garden, cook, play cards, and spend time with her friends and family.

She is survived by her son, John Earl Bertrand and his wife, Elizabeth of Gueydan; two daughters, Charlotte and her husband, Patrick Meurer of Houston, TX and Elizabeth Bertrand of Duson; one son-in-law, Stephen Hartwell of Duson; four grandchildren, Bryan Meurer and his wife, Amy, Kimberly and her husband, Caleb Tubbleville, Laurine and her husband, Tobie Boudreaux, and Ted Bertrand; and two great grandchildren, Connor and Tinleigh Boudreaux.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, John Edward Bertrand; her parents, Asa "Chop" Broussard and the former Claire Duhon; one sister, Lilly Mae and her husband, Kenneth Bonnet.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Saturday, September 13, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. until services with a rosary being prayed at 11 a.m.
