ABBEVILLE - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2008 Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese the Child of Jesus for Ethel Matthews Logan who passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2008. Mrs. Logan, a resident of Abbeville, passed away peacefully at her home after a lengthy illness.

Internment will take place at St. Paul Cemetery in Abbeville. Lectors will be Jessica Deeds, Rachel Logan Hayden and Renee' Webb. Pallbearers will be James Deeds, Joel Webb, Aaron Webb, Jared Tessier, Derek Logan and Patrick Logan. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry and Donald Logan.

She was a member of the first graduating class of E. Broussard High School and attended SLI. Mrs. Logan taught for many years at Mt. Carmel Elementary, Seton Elementary and Maltrait Elementary.

Mrs. Logan was a wonderful wife, mother of five children, grandmother of nine and great grandmother of three. She loved many, was loved much and will be sadly missed.

Mrs. Logan is survived by her husband of nearly 67 years, Harry Lee Logan; her children, Cynthia Logan, Susan Logan Deeds and her husband James Deeds, Jerry Logan and his wife Julie, Catherine Logan and Donald Logan and his wife Lisa; eight grandchildren Renee' Webb, Joel Webb and wife Heejung Kim, Aaron Webb, Jared Tessier, Rachel Logan Hayden and her husband Major, Derek Logan, Patrick Logan and Jessica Deeds; three great grandchildren, Emma Grace Webb, Caleb Alexander Webb and Logan Michael Webb; two sisters, Mary Matthews Trahan and Imay Matthews Leleux; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Logan was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Oliva Matthews; her brothers, Clesmay, Claby, Clarence and Wilson Matthews; her sisters, Edith Matthews Comeaux, Malena Matthews Noel; grandchildren, Joshua Paul Logan and Phillip Jude Tessier; nephews, Raywood Matthews and "Shug" Matthews; and great nephew, Lee Christopher Noel.

The family requests that visiting hours will be observed at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, 209 S. Saint Charles St, on Friday, October 3, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, October 4, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Mt. Carmel Elementary, Vermilion Catholic High School or Hospice of Acadiana. The family is so appreciative to Hospice with special thanks given to Yvette, Deacon Davis, Nancy, Vanessa, Carolyn, and so many others. And to her sitters, Gloria Abshire and Delores Hebert for being so kind and faithful.
