He will be laid to rest at Mount Triumph Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Darryl Thibeaux officiating the services.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Elaine Francis Collins; three sons, Ruben (Melissa) Collins,III of Atlanta,GA, Ryan (Robin) Collins and Skylar D. Collins of Abbeville, LA; seven grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two brothers, Steve Matthews and Harold (Marcy)Collins, both of Abbeville,LA; two sisters, Jennie (Elbert) Dawson and Louise Hoffpauir, both of Abbeville, LA; mother-in-law, Susan M. Francis of Kaplan; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben Collins, Sr. and the former Gertrude Augustus; daugther, Destini Elaine Collins; two brothers, Carl and Chester Collins; two sisters, Rosa M. Henderson and Martha M. Washington; brother-in-law, Harold Henderson who raised him as a son; and his father-in-law, Clarence Francis.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Mt. Triumph Baptist Church, 301 S. Lamar St., on Monday, October 13, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
