Abbeville—Funeral services were held at a 2:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Joseph “Bula” Broussard, 93, who departed this life on October 30, 2008 to be with our Lord after an extended illness. He was surrounded by a loving family.
He was laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Rev. Paul Broussard officiating the services.
Bula was a native of Pecan Island, LA and a resident of Abbeville, LA. He was an entrepreneur, land owner and cattle rancher who influenced many lives. He was one of the original founders of Broussard Brothers, Inc. in Intracoastal City, LA. Bula was a devout, humble, generous man as well as a devoted brother. Bula was a proud veteran of WWII.
He was preceded in death by his father Johnnie Broussard, his mother Genevieve LaPlace Broussard, his sister Stella B. Broussard and his brother Howard P. Broussard.
Bula is survived by three brothers and four sisters: N. R. Broussard and Mark Broussard from Abbeville, LA and Huey Broussard from Pine Island, LA., Hilda B. Dufour, Wilda Broussard and Gleada Broussard from Abbeville, LA and Norma B. Sloan from Slidell, LA as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.
