Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Harlan Joseph Chatagnier Sr., 81, who died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at his residence.

He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend David Broussard officiating the services.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Cecile H. Chatagnier of Kaplan; one son, Harlan Chatagnier Jr. of Kaplan; two daughters, Cynthia Milliman and her husband Harry of Kaplan and Joan Cormier of Kaplan; one brother, Floyd Chatagnier of Church Point; two sisters, Ruby Hebert of Gueydan and Gean Chatagnier of Gueydan; five grandchildren, Melanie Milliman Brink of Oceanside, California, Jamie Cormier of Lafayette, Harlee Cormier of Kaplan, Harlan Trey Chatagnier of Baton Rouge, Adriana Chatagnier of Kaplan; and two great grandchildren, Remington and Zamiel Brink, both of Oceanside, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Uldgier Chatagnier and the former Etile Rose Istre; one son-in-law, Terry Cormier; one brother and four sisters.

Mr. Harlan Chatagnier Sr. served eighteen months in Japan during World War II under the United States Army. He was an avid hunter and a loving father, husband and grandfather. Mr. Chatagnier farmed rice and raised cattle for sixty plus years. He also served as a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Saturday, November 1, 2008 from 9 a.m. until services, with a rosary being prayed at 10 a.m.
