Mae Merelyn Picard Duhon

She will be laid to rest at St. Alphonsus Cemetery with Reverend Joseph Breaux officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Nicholas and Brent Trahan, Jude and Allen Picard,and Bryan and Jason Picard.

Merelyn worked for the Vermilion Parish Police Jury until her retirement , after which she spent her time working in her flower garden. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Hulen Duhon; one son, Guy Duhon and wife Christy; one daughter, Renee D. Libersat and husband Tony; one brother, Perry Picard; two sisters, Viola P. Hulo and Anna Lou Romero; and two grandchildren, Shelly Libersat and Madison Duhon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Rosa Duhon Picard; and three brothers, Roland Picard, John W. Picard and Nolan Picard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Monday, November 3, 2008 from 11:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
