Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Monday, December 22, 2014 at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Ella Mae LeLeux LaBry, 87, who died Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Courtyard Manor. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Bill Ruskoski officiating the services. Serving as Pallbearers will be Randall LaBry, Steven LaBry, Gilbert Smith, Tommy Hebert, Wayne “CoCo” Hargrave Jr., and Shelton Broussard.
Ella Mae was born in LeLeux and was a resident of Kaplan for most of her life. She was a graduate of Kaplan High School. After graduating high school Ella Mae married Ewell LaBry in 1946. She was employed by Kaplan State Bank and Vermilion Bank & Trust for many years. She served as a volunteer for 4-H, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church counting parish collections and preparing food for the bereaved, and was also a teller for the Maltrait Bazaar and October Fete. Mrs. LaBry was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, The American Legion Auxiliary, and the American Business Women’s Association, and recognized as ABWA Business Woman of the year in 1987. She enjoyed baking, dancing, entertaining friends and family, and most importantly she had a special devotion to the rosary. She was a beautiful soul, a loving mother, grandmother, and wife, a wonderful sister and friend.
She is survived by her two sons, Randall LaBry of Lafayette and Steven LaBry and his wife, Ellen of Lafayette; four daughters, Donella and her husband, Wayne "T-Black" Hargrave of Nunez, Adrianne and her husband, Gilbert Smith of Lafayette, Nadine and her friend, Tommy Hebert of Lafayette, and Gayla and her husband, Mike Young of Venlo, the Netherlands; ten grandchildren, Coryne LaBry, Steven Johnathon LaBry and his fiancée, Melissa Betts, Keisa Sagrera and her husband, Nicholas Arceneaux, Christon LaBry and her husband, Christopher Saik, Alyce LaBry and her fiancée, Emily Borgen, Neysha Perry and her fiance, Howie Wells, Maegan Smith, Theresa Smith, Wayne "CoCo" Hargrave Jr. and his girlfriend, Parrish Broussard, and Gilbert "Riley" Smith; two great grandchildren, Marcus Arceneaux and Genevieve Arceneaux; one brother, Howard LeLeux and his wife, Elizabeth of Tulsa, OK; and her heart sister, Evangeline Hanks of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Ewell LaBry; her parents, Clovis LeLeux and the former Elidia Simon; one child, Angela Marie LaBry; and one sister, Domitile King.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana or Maltrait Memorial School.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Sunday, December 21, 2014 from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 6 p.m.; Monday, December 22, 2014 from 8 a.m. until services.
