Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Friday, December 19, 2014 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church honoring the life of Gerald Jerome Mayeux, 85, who died Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Maison du Monde Living Center.

He will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Mayne officiating the services.

Gerald was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4158, F&AM Lodge #192 Masonic and Confrerie D' Abbeville.

He is survived by his wife, Essie M. Mayeux of Abbeville; two sons, Jules V. Mayeux and Hugh J. Mayeux both of Abbeville; two daughters, Mary M. Mayeux and Amy Mayeux Sellers both of Abbeville; brother, Anthony Mayeux of Natchitoches; sister, Bonnie Moreau of Simmerport; and five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Anthony Mayeux and the former Eulalie Aymond; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Aymond; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Telisma Mayeux.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Friday, December 19, 2014, from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
