She will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Mayne officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Terry Delahoussaye, Danny Delahoussaye, Junior Goutierrez, Eddie Goutierrez, Chip Goutierrez, and Ryan Bares. Honorary pallbearers will be Bernard Delahoussaye, Clay Benton, Chris Etheridge and Rodney Guidry. Readers will be Cheryl and Terry Delahoussaye.
Mary was a teacher for 20 years at Abbeville High School. She was known as an artist. She was recognized for her Christmas ornaments, painting of birds, needlework and her special handcrafted baskets.
She is survived by her sister, Verna Trahan; aunt and uncle, Vergie and Bernard (Ban) Delahoussaye; special honorary children, Terry (Cheryl) Delahoussaye, Charlotte (Junior) Goutierrez, and Roz (Jimmy) Ward; godchild, Danny Delahoussaye; special "nieces" and "nephews", Jennifer (Rodney) Guidry, Keshia (Chris) Etheridge, Ryan (Laura) Bares, Eddie Goutierrez, Chip (Amber) Goutierrez; and special neighbor and friend, Clara Cohorn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson "Slim" and Amy Trahan; and special cousin, Garrett Goutierrez.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church. A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m.
