Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Norman J. Mouton, 82, who died Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Encore Healthcare and Rehabilitation. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Keith Landry officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Don Mouton, Paul James, Kerry Mire, Roger LeBlanc, Chad Mire, and Gregory Melancon. Honorary pallbearers will be Matt LeBlanc, Ryan Mouton, Jacob Herpin, Layne Mouton, Nathan Mouton, Cole Mire, and Tyler Herpin.
Norman will be remembered as devoted to his family. He was an avid outdoorsman which included cooking, fishing, crabbing, and duck hunting. He was a rice and crawfish farmer. Norman owned and and operated Mouton’s Bait Shop and he was a water patrol deputy under the administration of Ray Lemaire. He was also a minor and little league coach for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bertha M. Mouton of Cow Island; one son, Don Randall Mouton and his wife, Darlene; four daughters, Ann Katherine and her husband, Paul James, Norma Joetta and her husband, Kerry Mire, Bethany Lois and her husband, Roger LeBlanc, and Lois Ann and her husband, Gregory Melancon; eight grandchildren, Jamie, Ryan, Misty, Amanda, Jacob, Matt, Chad, and Mollie; Twelve great grandchildren, Lacie, Lexie, Layne, Nathan, Cole, Zoe, Kyleigh, Presli, Tyler, Ella, Chloe, and Colette.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Erica Faith Mire; his parents, Clovis Mouton and the former Agnes Guidry; one brother, Rodney Mouton; one sister, Louella Bourque; one brother-in-law, Alby Bourque; his maternal grandparents; and his paternal grandparents.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 6 p.m.; Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 8 a.m. until services.
