ABBEVILLE— Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2015 at Esther Baptist Church honoring the life of Osburn Hebert, 92, who died Monday, January 26, 2015.
He will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery with Reverend Wallace Primeaux officiating the services.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Osburn was a proud veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard who was stationed in Galveston, TX and Los Angeles, CA. He served our country during World War II aboard the U.S.S. LST-169, Flotilla 13, Group 39, Division 77, traveling many miles across American and International waters crossing the equator. "Shorty" was one of the honored recipients to have traveled alongside his fellow comrades to Washington, D.C. for the Honor Flight visiting the WWII memorial. This trip was sponsored by a local radio station KMDL 97.3 and was very much appreciated.
He is survived by his daughters, Betty Boudreaux and her husband Wilson, and Bonnie LeBlanc and her husband Eddie; twelve grandchildren,Joshua LeBlanc, Jerrard Boudreaux, Eddie LeBlanc, IV, Christopher Franks, Jody Glover, Joany Boudreaux, Jillian Boudreaux, Delanie Hebert, Beth LeBlanc-Thomsen, Holly Boffy, Karla Woolsey and Cheyenne Hebert; and seventeen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Durr; parents, Willie Hebert and the former Elma Porter; daughter, Brenda Faye Hebert; son, Bobby Wade Hebert; and brothers, Adrian "Joe" Hebert and Reginald "Reggie" Hebert.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Friday January 30, 2015, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
