Wilda "Dod" Broussard
August 19, 1914 — March 22, 2015
She will be laid to rest at St. Anne Cemetery with Reverend Keith Landry officiating the services.
Pallbearers will be Preston Broussard, Jr., Toby Broussard, Heath Gaspard, Shawn Sagrera, Kimble Sagrera and Mark Broussard.
Giftbearers will be her grandchildren. Altar servers will be Shawn Sagrera and Lindsey Sagrera. Serving as lectors will be Cindy Morris and Simone Wilson. Natial P. d'Augereau, vocalist, accompanied by Melissa Couvillion Hebert, organist will perform for the services. Prayer of the Faithful will be prayed by Seth White. A special poem will be recited by Jan G. Istre.
Wilda was a member of the St. Anne Ladies Altar Society. She was an excellent seamstress and loved cooking for her family and friends. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother who was devoted to God and her family.
She is survived by her son, Preston Broussard, Jr. (Judy) of Cow Island; daughters, Mavis B. Faulk of Kaplan, Venola B. Broussard (Mark) of Mouton Cove, Waveel B. Sagrera (Austin) of Esther, and Rita B. Mason (Jerry) of Lafayette; half-sisters, Evelyn Miller, Enes Trahan, Lorraine Haze and Inez Hebert; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; and seventeen great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Broussard, Sr.; parents, Gladu Broussard and the former Eurma Mire; brothers, Clarence Broussard, Whitney Broussard and Clance Broussard; sister, Olita Vallot; and sons-in-law, Paul Gaspard, Jr. and Lloyd Faulk.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. Anne Catholic Church, 17315 Lionel Road, on Thursday, March 26, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary to be prayed at 11:00 a.m.
The family of Wilda Broussard would like to give thanks and special appreciation to all her caregivers, nurses, Dr. Ronald M. Lahasky, staff of Eastridge Nursing Care, Dr. Joseph G. Lashley, and nurses of the E.R. Unit of Abbeville General Hospital for their loving care given to their mother. They also want to extend a special thanks to Father Keith Landry, Father Emmanuel Fernandez, friends and relatives for all their blessings and prayers through out their mom's journey.
