Hilda, known as “Bea,” to family and friends, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother who enjoyed crabbing, gardening, cooking, baking, singing, cleaning, and spending time with her family. Also, Hilda’s hobbies included playing a good bouree game, going to the casino, and having a coffee visit with her family and friends. She graduated from the school of Hard Knocks with Cum Laude honors when it came to her exemplary work ethic and moral character, which she instilled daily in her children. For many years, Hilda, “Bea,” worked as a retail clerk at Morgan & Lindsey’s, Bares Dept. Store, and Eckerd’s. After retiring from the retail world, she worked for her good friend and neighbor, Verta “Pie” Richard at Johnny’s Pizza House. As a devout Catholic, she loved going to church frequently and praying her rosary daily; she was well-known for her love for God, her faith in our Lord, her numerous novenas said for others, and her special devotion to our Blessed Mother Mary. As an independent, strong woman, Hilda “Bea,” instilled in her children a firm foundation of morals and values and an exemplary life filled with acts of faith, lots of hope, and a multitude of love. She was a member of the St. Theresa Ladies’ Altar Society, and she will be forever remembered for her generous donation of time and her dedication to her family. Although Hilda, “Bea,” will be sadly missed by all who knew her, her self-sacrificing legacy will continue through her memorable stories and songs, her moral example and character, and her love for her family.
