KAPLAN — Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27 at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Earl Bernard, 64, who died Tuesday, December 23, 2008. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend David Broussard officiating the services.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Venola Bernard of Kaplan; one son, Thad Bernard of Kaplan; one granddaughter, "the apple of his eye", Miranda Bernard of Kaplan; and one sister, Ruth Guidry of Sulphur.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Bernard Sr. and the former Eve Touchet; and his brother, Maurice "Champ" Bernard Jr.

Mr. Bernard was a lifelong resident of Kaplan. He was employed by Hidco for sixteen years. He was an avid golfer. He was a fireman in the United States Air Force stationed in France.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Friday, December 26, from 12 noon until 10 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, December 27, from 8 a.m. until services.
