Presley Trahan

November 18, 1919 — January 10, 2009

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Monday, January 12, 2009 at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Presley Trahan, 89, who died Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Heart Hospital of Lafayette. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend David Broussard officiating the services.

Presley had an enormous love of life and his cajun heritage, but most of all, he was proudest of his service to his country. Presley was a patriot who bravely served as a "Flying Tiger" during World War II. He was a member of the 375th Bomb Squadron and 308th Bomb Group that flew many missions in the China-Burma-India Theatre. He was a proud veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 271 for many years. He was also a member of the Lions Club who he supported for many years. Presley was also proud of the fact that high school students visited him annually for history lessons on World War II.
Presley was also a lifelong farmer for over fifty years.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Gladys Broussard Trahan of Kaplan, and their daughter, Karen T. and her husband Richard Abshire of Kaplan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John D. Trahan and the former Anna Broussard; one brother, Laurest Trahan; and one sister, Evelyn T. Vincent.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Sunday, January 11, 2009 from from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Monday, January 13, from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for the church.
