Harvey A. Mcmullen

Harvey A. McMullen, age 79 of Pearland, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on January 6, 2009. He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer A. & Blanch McMullen, son Richard McMullen, and sister, Lois Serlet. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Lydia; daughters, Gisele Oakes & her husband, James; Michele Jackson & her husband, Randy; brother, Robert A. McMullen & his wife, Carol; sisters, Jean Coughlin and Dorothy Hartridge; grandchildren, Rachel & Kelsey Oakes; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Harvey was born on April 15, 1929 in Fort Collins, Colorado. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and earned the rank of Sergeant. Harvey worked for many years as an SBA Finance Director for the U.S. Government. He was a loving husband, father, pawpaw, and Rotarian. In his leisure time, he enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Lydia and Harvey were happily married for 51 years. They loved to travel and were lucky enough to see the world together. Harvey was a man who truly lived by the Rotary motto, "Service above Self'. He was a past member of the Houston, Astrodome, and Pearland Rotary Clubs. He was still a current and very active charter member of the 288 Corridor Rotary Club. Harvey always had a smile on his face and a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday February 6, 2009. A rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. before the service.
