Shelton Davis Morgan, Jr.
July 30, 1930 — July 19, 2015
He will be laid to rest at Esther Community Cemetery with Reverend Emmanuel Fernandez officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Scotty Broussard, Justin Choate, Blake Morgan, Josh Sills, Brad Pearson and David Choate.
Shelton was a veteran of the United States Army who served our country during the Korean Conflict. He was trained as a tug boat captain delivering bombs and ammunition to American ships. He loved any time spent outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and tending to his cattle.
He was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Foster Morgan; three sons, Craig Morgan and his wife, Debbie, Tony Morgan and his wife, Mary Kay, and Teddy P. Morgan and Lani; grandchildren, Milicent Morgan Guidry and her husband, Chance, Pam Morgan Choate and her husband, Marlin, Katie Morgan, and Blake Morgan; one great grandchild, Madison Guidry; and sister, Naomi Morgan Choate and her husband, Lawrence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Shelton Davis Morgan, Sr. and the former Marie Mersch; sister, Barbara Morgan Broussard; and brother-in-law, Sidney Broussard.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Wednesday, July 22, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to his caretakers, Velma and Carroll, staff of AMG Specialty Hospital and to all who prayed for Shelton and his family.
