Evelyn Grace Verret
July 18, 1927 — August 10, 2015
She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery in Abbeville, LA with Reverend Louis Richard officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Verret, Cole Harkins, James Badon, Glen Simon, Dean Dove, and Steve Raymond.
She is survived by her son, Charles J. Verret and his wife, Wanda of Natchitoches, LA; one brother, Rodney J. Simon and his wife, Wilda of Kaplan, LA; one grandson, Greg Verret and his wife, Amanda of Matthews, North Carolina; one granddaughter, Amy V. Harkins and her husband, Cole of Longview, TX; two great grandsons, Nathan Verret and Mark Verret of Matthews, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Whitney J. Verret; parents, Allison Simon and the former Gracie Simoneaux; and three sisters, Hazel Henry, Belle Broussard, and Rena Badon.
She enjoyed growing roses, crocheting and cooking in addition to spending time with her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed cooking holiday meals for the family.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Saturday, August 15, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Natchitoches Community Care Center and all the wonderful caregivers for their love and exceptional care given to their mother and grandmother. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Kathleen Kautz and Dr. Rebecca Giles for their compassionate care given to her for the past six years.
