Theodule Piere "Nomi" Noel
August 24, 1928 — August 25, 2015
He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery. Reverend Keith Landry will be the Celebrant and Con Celebrant will be Reverend Louis Richard. Pallbearers will be Mark Devenport, J.F. Noel, Mike Langlinais, Dale Broussard, Ross Hebert, and Kane Webb. Honorary pallbearers will be William Gaspard and Samuel Noel.
Mr. Noel graduated from Abbeville High School in 1945 and immediatley began farming with his father and brother. He later branched off on his own. After 34 years, he retired, turning the operatoion over to his son, Sammy. Noel Farms continues to operate as the successful cattle and rice farm he created years ago.
"Nomi" had a passionate love for the land, his family, and his friends. He was also a very faithful man. He made Men's Cursillo #6 and was a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus Council.
"Nomi" will be remembered for his fun loving personality, love for the outdoors, and his ability to make friends wherever he went.
He is survived by his four children, Catherine Bass and her husband Ken of Houston, Christine Devenport and her husband Dan of Lafayette, Samuel Noel and his wife Pamela of Abbeville, and Theodule Noel, Jr. and his wife Anne of Abbeville; eight grandchildren, Kevin Schiffer, Greg Schiffer, Mark Devenport, Matthew Devenport, Taylor Noel, Andre Noel, Amanda Noel and Emma Noel; and seven great grandchildren, Victoria Schiffer, Madison Schiffer, Zoe Schiffer, Dashiel Schiffer, Arlie Devenport, Haies Devenport, and Adley Devenport.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Joyce Trahan Noel; parents, Leopold Noel, Sr. and the former Elizabeth Bajat; brother, Leopold Noel, Jr.; and sisters, Helen Noel Knowles and Florence Noel Broussard.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Friday, August 28, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Jon Leleux, Dr. Samuel Shuffler, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and staff, and caretakers who have diligently stood by his side and cared for him.
