Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 26, 2015 at a 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Kevin “Chonky” Abshire, 55, who died Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Heart Hospital of Lafayette. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Rev. Mark Miley officiating the services.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Abshire of Kaplan; one son, Kevin Sean Abshire and his wife, Margarita of Chicago, IL; two daughters, Tiffany Abshire Doucet and her husband, Russell Doucet, II of Rayne and Chelsae Danielle Abshire of Crowley; three step-children, Abbey Palombo of Kaplan, Casey Palombo of Alexandria, and Blake Palombo of Kaplan; his parents, John Purvis Abshire and the former Lillian Miller; two brothers, Dennis Abshire and his wife, Mary Alice of Kaplan and Michael Abshire and his wife, Dina of Kaplan; and five grandchildren, Karlee Abshire, Alexander Doucet, Kye Laughlin, Khyra Abshire, and Sofia Abshire.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Wilton Miller and Leocadie Dubois; and his paternal grandparents, Semar Abshire and the former Ovenia Guillot.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Friday, September 25, 2015 from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 8 a.m. until services.
