Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church honoring the life of Lardy Grabinski Meaux, 89, who died Monday, October 19, 2015.
She will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Rev. Gregory Cormier officiating the services.
Pallbearers will be Shane Luquette, Chris Lege, Patrick Stutes, Phillip Meaux, Ryan Bergeron, Jeremy Broussard, and Matthew DeHart. Honorary pallbearer will be Jody Desormeaux.
Lardy Grabinski Meaux was born in Meriden, Connecticut, April 6, 1926. She was in New York City for the weekend when she met Didier Elie Meaux while he was on leave from the USS Philadelphia (CL-41). They married on May 8, 1942 and moved to Abbeville after Elie was discharged from the Navy. Lardy was a teacher and active member of St. Theresa Catholic Church.
Lardy is survived by brothers, Joseph Grabinski and his wife Madeline, and Stephen Grabinski; sisters, Dorothy Bunn, and Gloria Polley; sisters-in-law, Annie Trahan, Nita Broussard and Mabel Meaux; nine children, Juanita Luquette Hargrave, Jennifer Milligan, John Meaux and his wife Elette, Joyce Desormeaux and her husband Daniel Glenn, Jerome Meaux and his wife Debra, June Bergeron and her husband Randy, Judith DeHart and her husband Jesse, Jeffery Meaux and his wife Dawn, Jessica Broussard and her husband Tim; twenty-one grandchildren, Chad and Shane Luquette, Monica Hargrave Hebert, Tanya Hargrave Zerringue, Chris and Nick Lege, Jason Harrington, Patrick Stutes, Laura Stutes LeBlanc, Jody Desormeaux, Daniel Glen Desormeaux, Jr., Phillip Meaux, Brittany Meaux, Matthew DeHart, Ethan DeHart, Grant Knox Jarrod, Ryan and Jacob Bergeron, Jeremy Broussard, and Tabatha Broussard Trahan; forty great grandchildren, Logan, Garrett, Jobi, Issac, Gavin, Braden, Taryn, Jenna, Amber, Kaylee, Ellie, Ali, Claire, Beau, Christian, Jack, Ashton, Jordin, Maryam, Adam, Connor, Addison, Estella, Sophie, Jace, Jolie, Maddox, Kayla, Isabella, Ayla, Andon, Anya, Ella, Brennan, Jag, Deagan, Jovi, Liam, and one due December 29 and one due April 29; two great-great-grandchildren Cy and Caydon Luquette.
She is preceded in death by a daughter, Joann; husband, Didier Elie; son-in-law, Keith Milligan; parents, John and Anna Grabinski; five sisters, Jenny Duberek, Matilda Klinczek, Mary Valiquette, Wanda Moore and Irene Grabinski; two brothers, Oscar and Stanley Grabinski; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Didier and Josephine Meaux; brothers-in-law, Joseph 'Cotchie', Frances, and Roy Meaux; and sister-in-law, Ella Baudoin.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church. A rosary will be prayed at noon.
