We come into this life empty-handed, and at the end, leave an empty shell. It’s what we build in the middle that counts. Clifton Touchet had a lot of middle – and memories to leave behind. “Clif” made full use of his 91 years with us. He believed in family, love, and life until the very end.

In his working years, Clifton was a milkman, an insurance salesman, and a steward on a derrick barge. He was very active, enjoyed traveling, cooking, and making “treasures out of trash”. He will always be remembered for his friendly nature and sense of humor. Your absence will be greatly noticed, but you are with family and friends now.

He was the head of our very large family, and at the age of 75, found love again with his very special companion of 16 years – Ms. Elta Mae. He leaves behind 3 children, Barbara Garcia (Paul), Larry Touchet (Ronda), and Tina Peltier (Bradley), 4 Stepchildren, Cynthia Primeaux (Jimmy), Debbie Pontiff (Tommy), Mark LaPointe (Renee), and Francis LaPointe; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren with one on the way; 6 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by father, Lionel Touchet; mother, Moita Cormier; his 3 brothers, Dalton, Francis, and Goreph; 3 sisters, Inez Sonnier, Dorothy LeBlanc, and Evelyn Gerard; his 2nd wife, Mildred Vice; 1st wife, Madres LaPointe; and granddaughter, Briley LaPointe.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 2, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ronald Lahasky and the staff of Maison de Monde Nursing Home, especially the entire staff of A Hall.
