Orris Joseph Carriere

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2009 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Orris Joseph Carriere, 73, who died Friday, April 3, 2009 of cancer at home at his request surrounded by family. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Deacon David Vaughn officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers were Thomas Carriere, Dr. Braxton Turnage D.C., Drew Turnage, Dustin LeBeouf, Joshua LeBeouf, and Cody Seaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Clay Seaux, Taylor Hargrave, and Mitch Mouton.

Mr. Carriere, better known as "Big-O", was past owner of the Freez-O in Kaplan for several years and also Big O's in Forked Island. He enjoyed spending Sundays with family and friends. Fishing, playing cards, and gardening were his hobbies, but crawfishing he loved best. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Vicy Guillory Carriere of Kaplan; one son, Thomas Ray Carriere of Kaplan; four daughters, Sheryl and her husband Earl "Pudgy" Turnage of Kaplan, Cynthia "Ta" and her husband Dexter LeBeouf of Kaplan, Melandie and her husband Jared Stanley of Kirbyville, Texas, and Karisa and her husband Corey Seaux of Kaplan; four foster children, Maria, David and Darrell Bird, all of Sulphur and Mitch Mouton of Kaplan; two brothers, Wayne and Thomas Daigle both of Church Point; two sisters, Mrs. Leroy Leger of Branch and Mrs. Leroy Bihm of Port Arthur, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Katie Turnage Greene, Dr. Braxton Turnage D.C., Drew Turnage, Christy Hargrave, Dustin and Joshua LeBeouf, Kameron, Kaden and Kross Stanley, Cody and Clay Seaux, and Christian Mouton; and three great grandchildren, Taylor Hargrave, and Shae' and JonVea' Stelly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Carriere and Eva B. Carriere Daigle; stepfather, Arthur Daigle; and one brother, Harry Carriere.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Friday, April 3, 2009 from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.; Saturday, April 4, from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Sunday, April 5, from 8 a.m. until services.
