Rosemary V. Broussard

December 23, 1932 — December 17, 2015

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Rosemary Viator Broussard, 82, who died Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Vermilion Health Care Center. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Rev. Mark Miley officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Corie East, Jude Viator, John Michael Viator, Renee Broussard, Justin Rost, and Scott Armentor.


Born in Delcambre, Rosemary was the second child and only girl to Felix and Aline Viator. She graduated from Delcambre High School and attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute were she received her B.S. in Nursing. She was one of the six out of twenty five students to be the first Registered Nurse graduating class in 1955. Upon completion of college Rosemary married J. Peverly Broussard and relocated to College Station, TX where she began her nursing career. She was employed by many during her life as a nurse. She worked for The Old Palms Hospital in Abbeville, Dr. Gaulman Abshire, Kaplan Healthcare Center, Abbeville General Hospital, Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital, and Vermilion Healthcare Center. Rosemary enjoyed cooking for family and friends, reading Stephen King novels, and watching the Syfi channel. She also loved visiting and entertaining family and friends. She was known by many and a stranger to none. She will be greatly missed by all. Rosemary was a dedicated member of the Catholic Daughter’s and the Woman’s Altar Society.


She is survived by her son, Dwain J. Broussard and his wife, Charlotte of Kaplan; one daughter, Jan B. Rost of Kaplan; one brother, Jerry Viator of Delcambre; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix Viator and the former Aline Bonin; one daughter, Rochelle Broussard; one son, J. Peverly Broussard, Jr.; one brother, Edward Viator; and her ex-husband, Dr. J. Peverly Broussard.


Her family would like to thank Vermilion Healthcare Center and IBC Hospice for their care and compassion during their time of need.


The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Friday, December 18, 2015 from from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 8 a.m. until services.
