Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church honoring the life of Elgine Simon, 89, who died Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Eastridge Nursing Center. She will be laid to rest at Leroy Community Cemetery with Reverend Johnathan Janise officiating the services.

She is survived by two sons, Hurby Simon and his wife, Joan of Kaplan and Keith "Popeye" Simon and his wife, Linda of Tyrone, GA; one daughter, Annie Lou and her husband, Larry Abshire of Kaplan; one brother, Thomas Landry of Abbeville; two sisters, Lillian Trahan of Carencro and Louella Boutin of Kaplan; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Whitney "T-Whit" Simon; her parents, Gaston Landry and the former Elodie Landry; and numerous brothers and sisters.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for the church.
