Lucille Hoffpauir Guidry

August 5, 1921 — April 12, 2009

Funeral services will be held April 16, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Abbeville United Methodist Church, honoring the life of Lucille Hoffpauir Guidry, 87, of Abbeville who died Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Eastridge Nursing Center. Burial will be in Graceland Cementery with Rev. John Vining officiating.

She is survived by her brother Roy Vermon Hoffpauir of Abbeville, her step-son Earl J. Guidry and his wife Natalie of Lafayette, her step grandchidren Mike Guidry of Lafayette, Laura Pickett of Houston Texas, Paul Guidry of Katy Texas, five step great grandchildren, and two step great great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Milton J. Guidry, her parents Joseph O'Neal Hoffpauir and Anna Lee H. Hoffpauir, and five sisters, Daisy H. Desormeaux, Mazie H. Pedigo, Wilma H. Luquette, Thelma H. Perry, and Myrtie H. Duplantis.

A native and life long resident of Abbeville, Lucille, also known as "Lou" to many, worked as a bookkeeper at the First National Bank for many years. Lucille spent time daily reading in the Bible, and enjoyed reading inspirational books and writings. She always greeted everyone with her beautiful smile, and she was an inspiration and witness to God's love to others because of her spiritual strength, her courage, and faith in God. She was a member of the Abbeville United Methodist Church.

The family would like to express and extend their thanks and sincere gratitude to the staff at Eastridge Nursing Center for their loving care, compassion, and friendship. Your love and support touched our hearts and will forever be remembered. Appreciation is extended to Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care for the caring and compassionate services which they have provided. Also, a very special word of thanks to Rev. John Vining and the wonderful church family at the Abbeville United Methodist Church for their prayers, support, and compassion, all of which have been blessings beyond measure.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home on April 16, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
