Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Friday, February 5, 2016 at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Laodice Joseph Reaux, Jr., 99, who passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2016. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery.
L.J. was a life long resident of Kaplan and a veteran of World War II. He worked for his father’s general store, but his true passion was training horses, raising cattle, and hunting.
He is survived by his three children, Rose Marie R. Lorio of Baton Rouge, Herschel A. Reaux and his wife, Sandra of Kaplan, and Arlene R. and her husband, Klein Kleinpeter of Sugar Land, TX; one sister, Carmen K. Humphrey of Metairie; nine grandchildren, Andree L. Carr, Michelle L. St.Martin, Cherie L. Chassaignac, Suzette L. McAfee, Courtney R. Morgan, Virginia Reaux, Herschel A. Reaux, II, Tyler Kleinpeter, and Ryan Kleinpeter; and ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Olivia Eve Hanks; and his parents, Laodice Joseph Reaux, Sr. and the former Virginia Greene.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 600 N. Church Avenue, on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 1 p.m. until services.
