Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Monday, February 8, 2016 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Harvey Derouen, 55, who died Thursday, February 4, 2016 at his residence.
He will be laid to rest at St. Alphonsus Cemetery with Reverend Brian Harrington officiating the services.
He was the owner/operator of Harvey's Seafood for over 32 years. He will be most remembered for his love of family. He was a good storyteller and cook. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cards, attending horse races, time spent with family at the beach, and was a devoted New Orleans Saints football fan.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Antoinette Cessac Derouen; son, Caleb Derouen; daughter, Jeane Derouen; mother, Annie Roy Derouen; two brothers, Kip Derouen and his wife Mary, and Clay Derouen; and sister, Roxane Meaux and her husband Dexter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jeffery Derouen; maternal grandparents, Clebe Roy and the former Amy Breaux; and paternal grandparents, Adras Derouen and the former Lelias Touchet.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, February 7, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Monday, February 8, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
