Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Lena Mae Gaspard, 60, who died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at her residence in Lake Arthur. She will be laid to rest at Greene Cemetery with Deacon David Vaughn officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Wesley Fontenot, Lawrence Bourque, Mavrick Olivier, Paul Abshire Jr., Bowdie Olivier, and Alix Schexnider. Honorary pallbearers will be Lane Olivier, Coy Olivier, and Tate Lopez.

She is survived by two daughters, Nicole Abshire and Tanya Abshire, both of Jennings; her former husband, Paul W. Abshire, Jr. of Kaplan; one brother, Hubert Gaspard of Cow Island; three sisters, Laura Babineaux of Rayne, Caldrey Gaspard of Rayne and Mona Primeaux of Cow Island; and five grandchildren, Alix Schexnider, Mavrick Olivier, Lane Olivier, Coy Olivier, and Tate Lopez.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest "Lull" Gaspard and Mathilde Saltzman; and two brothers, Gilbert and Russell Gaspard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Thursday, April 30, 2009 from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; Friday, May 1, from 8 a.m. until services.
