John worked as a Land Surveyor in the Oil and Gas industry all his life. He worked for several companies over the years including Elray Schexnaider and Associates, John Chance and Associates and C. H. Fenstermaker as a project manager. He spent sometime working in Brazil in 1971.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Benoit of Maurice; daughter, Alicia Benoit and her husband Josh Corey of Santa Cruz, CA; mother, Anne Cormier; grandchildren, Aurelia Benoit-Corey, Blaise Benoit-Corey, Steve Charles Landry III and Cory John Hebert; brother, Richard Wesley Benoit and his wife Annette; sister, Mary Anne Weekly Perkins; step daughter, Shawn Melancon; step son, Scott Savoie; and ex-wife, Cheryl JeanFreau.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linde Sloan Benoit; father, Clarence Benoit, sister, Jessie Jane Benoit; paternal grandparents, Hypolite and Yolanda Benoit; maternal grandparents, Frank and Sylvia Cormier; and two brothers-in-law, Buddy Weekly and Charles Perkins.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. when we depart for the church.
