Joyce Ann Latham

Joyce Ann LeBlanc Latham, born August 29, 1939 suddenly passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2009 in Abbeville, LA with her loving husband Jerry by her side.
Joyce graduated top of her class from Mt. Carmel High School. Continued her education at Hotel Dieu School of Nursing, earning a degree as a registered nurse. Joyce worked most of her career at St. Mary's Hospital in Galveston, Texas until her health failed. She became a stay at home mom and devoted her time to her children and grandchildren. Joyce had a strong influence in her children's lives as evidence by Anna and Scotty following in their mother footsteps and becoming registered nurses.
Joyce and Jerry evacuated from Hurricane Ike in Galveston in September 2008 and made their way back to Joyce's hometown. Even though we as family will miss her terribly, Joyce left this world just the way she wanted to and at the place she was happiest, home.
Left behind to cherish her loving memory is her husband of 47 years, Jerry Paul Latham; son, Stephen "Scotty" Latham; daughters, Anna Clare Latham and Jennie Meyer; brothers, Allen LeBlanc and wife Cristina and Michael LeBlanc and wife Angela; nieces, Mona, Becky, Elena and Nicole; nephews, Eric and Kerry; grandchildren, Kevin and Kellie Gillane; and many other special friends in Galveston.
Joyce is preceded in death by both parents, Electa and Constance "Jack" LeBlanc.
The family wishes to express their upmost appreciation and thanks to Joyce's cousin, Beverly Michaud for the love, care and time devoted to Joyce while in Louisiana. Special thanks to Doreen, her special attendant and Coleen, her special nurse in Abbeville. Thank you to all who assisted our lovely Joyce at anytime.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Foundation of their choice.
The family requests that visiting hours will be observed at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, 209 S. Saint Charles St, on Thursday, May 7, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
