Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 31, 2016 at a 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Paul “Dale” Mouton, 81, who died Saturday, March 26, 2016 at his residence. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Mark Miley officiating the services.
A gentleman’s gentleman, he was a fisher of mankind, a top-notch tailor, a fabulous cook, one of a kind smooth dancer, an expert on fashion and who should wear what and when, a constant compliment giver, an entertaining story teller, animal lover, and a world traveler as much as he could possibly arrange from his time in the service on. He had a unique flair for creating magic in any space that was lucky enough to have him in it.
Dale was the epitome of Cajun Country charm and gentility, spreading his effervescent “joie de vivre” everywhere he went. Everyone who met him through the years in the many phases of his life became his good friend and he never had a shortage of friends. He knew everyone in Kaplan and the surrounding areas and was related to many of them. He greeted all with that famous “Dale smile” and bear hug. His warm personality made everyone melt when he drawled “hello shuga”. His compassion to his fellow man was legendary and he gave to everyone in need. Even when you didn’t know it, he was wearing out his rosary beads praying for you. When in his presence, he made you feel like you were the most important person in the world. He sought and nurtured the best in everyone. His gigantic heart was always ready with a kind word or an encouraging statement. Everyone who encountered his presence always felt uplifted. He savored life with a gusto that is unparalleled but God was always first. God felt that he had given Dale to us for long enough and that it was now his time with him. He will be dearly missed by all.
He is survived by his brother, Dewey Mouton, Jr.; two nieces, Waldeen Mouton and her husband, Greg Gremillion and Pamela Mouton and her husband, Jeff Hanchey; one nephew, Charles Mouton and his wife, Karen; five great nieces and nephews; ten great-great nieces and nephews; one dear cousin, Joan Anne Clavery; and his long term companion, Jeffery Gueno.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Mouton and the former Eunice Clavery Mouton Perry.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 600 N. Church Avenue, on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 9 a.m. until services with a rosary being prayed at 9:30 a.m.
