He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Mayne officiating the services.
Mr. Jabbia was a instructor at Vermilion Technical College where he touched the lives of many he taught.
He is survived by a son, Peter M. Jabbia and wife Linda of Delcambre; three daughters, Josephine Delcambre and husband Larry of New Iberia, Joann Dubois and husband Jean of Erath and Evelyn Jabbia and fiancee Mladen of Montreal, Canada; stepson, Edgar C. Nelson, Jr. and wife Karen of Rochester, NY; nine grandchildren, Troy Delcambre, Scott Delcambre, Monica Delcambre Viator, Kirk Jabbia, Trent Jabbia, Angela Dubois Choate, Brandon Dubois, Charles Guidry and Todd Guidry; step grandson, Brian Nelson; thirteen great grandchildren; brother, Tony Jabbia and wife Laura of Monroe; sister-in-law, Mamie Jabbia; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl LaBanca Jabbia; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter and Josephine Mondello Jabbia; two brothers, Frank and John Jabbia; two sisters, Rosa Leone and Corine Digilormo; and two grandsons, Chad and Corey Guidry.
The family would like to thank the staff at New Iberia Manor North for all the love and care they showed Mr. Jabbie and his family. They would also like to thank his trusted aids Terry and Rachel, and Darrell and Mae Lafont.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, May 10, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.. They will reopen on Monday, May 11, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
