Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 16, 2009 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Edith Simon Desormeaux, 83, who died Friday, May 15, 2009 at Abbeville General Hospital.
She will be laid to rest at St. Alphonsus Cemetery with Reverend Joseph Breaux officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Joseph L. Landry, Michael Doiron, Chad Conner, David Choate, Dennis Henderson and Tyler Doiron.
She is survived by two daughters, Earlene D. Doiron and husband Michael of Maurice and Lou Ella D. Landry and husband Joseph L. of Maurice; five grandchildren, Chad Conner, Courtney C. Choate, Tyler Doiron, Bridget White and Tiffany Henderson; and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jean Wilson Desormeaux; parents, Odeon and Lucy Harrington Simon; and six siblings, Noella Bourque, Zeolide Verret, Joseph Alton Simon, Ozite Simon and two infant boys.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, May 15, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary to prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, May 16, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
