Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at a Mass of Christian Burial at Garden of Memories Funeral Home in Metairie, LA honoring the life of Mary Jane Champagne Comesana, 89, who died Monday, May 9, 2016 at Vermilion Health Care Center after a four year battle with Alzheimer's.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, Abbeville, LA on Thursday, May 12, 2016 from noon until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA from noon until time of services.
She will be laid to rest at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Metairie on Saturday, May 14, 2016.
Mary Jane a native of Theall was a long time resident of Kenner, LA. and Carriere, MS. before returning to her hometown of Abbeville, LA. She was a 1944 graduate of Abbeville High School and a member of the St. Anne Altar Society.
Mary Jane was a loving housewife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved cooking especially the sweet treats for her grandchildren around the holidays.
She is survived by her five sons, Clement Comesana, Jr. and his wife Marilyn of Kenner, Ronald James Comesana of New Hampshire, Ernest James Comesana of Theall, Steven Michael Comesana and his wife Mona of Alexandria, and Thomas Joseph Comesana of Theall; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Allen Pousson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Clement Comesana, Sr.; parents, Ernest Champagne and the former Nita Hebert; sister, Bonnie Champagne Pousson; infant sister, Rose Marie Champagne; infant brother, Alfred Champagne; and daughter-in-law, Susan Richardson Comesana.
The Comesana family would like to thank Vermilion Health Care Center, Amedisys Home Health Care and Hospice and Cynthia Scarpero for their loving care and support, which we do not know what we would have done without.
