Gueydan—Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Everna McGee Cormier, 87, who died Friday, May 20, 2016 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at Gueydan Cemetery with Reverend Corey Campeaux officiating the services.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Andrew Cormier of Lake Arthur; two sons, Donald Cormier and his wife, Jessica of Gueydan and Wade J. Cormier and his wife, Linda of Klondike; one daughter, Elwanda and her husband, Rayland Melancon of Gueydan; two sisters, Audrey M. Broussard of Gueydan and Beverly M. Prejean of Rayne; two brothers, Bill McGee of Jennings and Galvin McGee of Scott; eight grandchildren, Kevin Cormier, Danielle Cormier, Daina Daigle, Maegan Tran, Quinton Abshire, Blaine Beard, Kaleb Beard, and Derrick Cormier; 12 great grandchildren; and her caregiver, Sabrina Istre.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Billon McGee and the former Anna Granger; two sisters; and one brother.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, 311 Fourth Street, on Monday, May 23, 2016 from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; May 24, 2016 from 8 a.m. until services.
