Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, 2016 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Curley Cormier, 98, who died Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings.
He will be laid to rest at St. Alphonsus Cemetery with Reverend Louis Richard officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Chase Romero, Kanyon St. Julien, Kayne Breaux, Kullan Romero, Weston Cormier, and Antonio Cormier. Honorary pallbearer will be Chad Cormier.
Curley was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who served his country during WWII in the Army. He had a love and a passion for woodworking, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by two sons, Calvin Cormier and his wife Wanda of Meaux, and Michael "Mike" Cormier and his wife Linda of Erath; three daughters, Linda Romero and her husband Jerry of Abbeville, Karen Landry and her husband David of Maurice, and Denise Landry, and her husband Ernie of Maurice; one brother, John Exie Cormier; three sisters, Anne Benoit, Irene Decou, and Elva Mae (T-Mae) Hernandez;grandchildren, Chad Cormier, Charmaine Shields,Chris St. Julien, Chase Romero, Jadie Breaux, Penny Cormier, Micky Cormier, Weston Cormier, Kayla Granger, Dustin Landry, and Denae Landry ; and great grandchildren, Kullan Romero, Kayne Breaux, Kanyon St. Julien, Mia St. Julien, Addison St. Julien, Antonio Cormier, Vanessa Breaux, Chelsea Redmond, Sydney Redmond, Francesca Granger, Ana Thomas, Chase (C.J.) Romero, Jr., Cash and Cruz Romero; step great grandchildren, Natalie and Ana Kathereen Granger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Hebert Cormier, parents, Francois Cormier and the former Selvina Trahan; four brothers, Asa, Willie, Alex, and Thomas Cormier; and three sisters, Marie Edmae Cormier, Jeannie Landry and Hortense St. Marie.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. and Friday, May 27, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for church.
