"Heaven has gained a true hero. The legend has finally earned his wings!! Rest in peace and be pain free!!!"
Abbeville—Memorial celebration honoring the life of Kenneth "Moose" Delcambre, 73, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2016 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville. He will be escorted by Louisiana State Police to his final resting place - St. Paul Cemetery.
On May 27th "Moose" lost his battle with Multiple Myeloma at his home in north Louisiana. Family and friends never left his side as his journey to eternal life began. He was every bit a "Trooper" to the end.
"Moose" retired with Louisiana State Police with thirty plus years. At the end of his career he was Troop Commander in Lake Charles, LA and additional twelve combined years with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff Office and Union Parish. He spent many years in narcotics, being one of the original "Dirty Dozen" formed by the state police. These group of men spent many hours attempting to keep our state free of drugs. Throughout his career he earned the name "The Legend", what an honor. Proudly wearing his blues, badge and carrying his nickname "Moose", one of a kind!!
"Moose" was a kind gentle giant of a man. Always wanting to help others in their time of need. Like most cajuns if you crossed him, look out!! He was proud of his Cajun heritage and loved to speak french. He loved to make people laugh by telling his famous stories of his career.
"Moose" is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hebert Delcambre; two step-children, Heidi Luquette and her fiancé Craig Launsbry their three children, Jonas, Audie and Piper, and Shane Luquette and his wife Nicole their three children, Bella, Diego, Leo and soon to be "Lil Francois".
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
The family wishes to thank his great Hospice team who became family to us during his seventeen months in their care. The many hours of devoted care and prayers we will never forget them. The many prayer warriors who prayed constantly for his comfort, many thank yous. To our close friends who never left our side his last two weeks on Earth as we prayed for his release into eternal glory simple thank yous aren't enough.
