Jeannette Marie Guidry Castro

July 23, 1938 — June 18, 2016

"Mom fought the good fight of faith and finished her race".

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at New Life Church honoring the life of Jeannette Marie Castro, 77, who went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 18, 2016.


She will be laid to rest at Abshire Cemetery with Reverend Lane Payne officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Robert Castro, Troy Castro, Jason Castro, Eric Castro, Lance Castro and Zachary Chauvin. Honorary pallbearers will be her two sons-in-law and her grandsons.

Grandma as she was known by her grandchildren and their friends but also to the many children she took care of, she was known as “MeMaw”. She was loving, caring and nurturing and had a love for everyone she met. Her family was the most important thing to her, always being there to watch them and support them in whatever they did. Her love for life was shown through her courageous spirit in the trials she went though the last few years. Her faith was never ceasing and it could be said that Mom loved God and loved people.




She is survived by her husband, Robert Castro; sons, Robert G. Castro and his wife Kathy, Troy A. Castro, Jason S. Castro, Eric J. Castro and his wife Amber and Lance J. Castro and his wife Pam; daughters, Tammy Palma and her husband Carlos, Sherri L. Castro and Lisa Chauvin and her husband Edwin; brother, Bobby Breaux and his wife Dot; sisters, Betty Frederick and Joyce Guidry and her husband Pervis; grandchildren, Lindsey Palma, Thadddeus Palma, Jerry Palma and his wife Haley, Candice Bergeron and her husband Thaddius, Zachary Chauvin, Kimberly Chauvin, Chad Chauvin and his wife Kristen, Shauna Richard and her husband Cedric, Roman Castro, Brian Miller and his wife Jayme, Kadie Castro, Sydney Castro, Caleb Castro, Mallory Castro, Caroline Castro, Cameron Castro, Payton Castro, Madeline Castro, Ethan Castro and Bennett Castro; and nine great grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Avery Guidry and the former Gladys Melancon; and a brother, Avery Guidry, Jr.


The family requests that visiting hours be observed at New Life Church, 1109 N. John Hardy Dr., on Monday, June 20, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Tuesday June 21, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
